Today I spoke to Elijah on the phone for a while, he is doing really good compared to this time last week. He sounded really encouraged and ready for the challenge to get back to ministry and skateboarding.

Joy told me tonight that she took Eli on a field trip to the balcony today and they were able to sit outside for a bit in the sun.

Elijah still needs prayer for his Kidneys to start working, he is continuing the dialysis every other day or so until that turns around for him. He is getting a lot of attention from Joy and Pam and friends. Stop by and give him a visit if you are in Winchester, Virginia.

This weekend there is a KKSM demo fundraiser for Elijah and Joy in Winchester to help them with their medical bills and the high cost of being in critical care for 10 or more days. Check the website and Facebook updates for the info on that and also the link to give directly to an account set up for them through PayPal.

Thanks again for all the prayer and support from all of you out there, keep the prayers going up for Elijah especially for the Kidneys and for him to regain his strength. He is not in any pain right now and we are believing for a complete healing of his physical issues he is dealing with.

Hey everyone;

Well this is how we want these updates to go, things are getting better for JahJah at light speed. He is officially out of the ICU………………..

Instead of 30 more days in the critical care unit, Elijah was up walking the hallways of the hospital with his beautiful bride holding his arm today…….Praise God

He has no IV’s attached and he is eating some food today also. We are waiting to hear the news that his Kidneys are working, so keep praying ya all like you been doing.

I feel like we have been given an awesome gift from God, giving us Elijah back from being close to death.

The Lord has shown me personally that we put expectations on our friends and family members that are so unreachable, instead of loving on them like it may be their last day with you.

If you can relate to what I am saying then make a change to accept and love your friends and family today unconditionally.

Remember God did not put any conditions on loving you and me. †

Welcome back my friend, be blessed today as you heal, we love ya and will continue to pray for your health to be restored completely.

I just got off the phone with Joy and she was able to spend the whole day with Elijah today. He was talking and laughing, pretty much just being himself, even started on some clear fluids today and wanting some real food……….Amen

He continues to show improvement and is making a turn around from earlier in the week, the proof that prayer really works……….Joy really is blessed by the hundreds of you who are praying for them.

Keep praying for those Kidneys to begin to function normally. Please also pray for the fundraising demo we are doing in Virginia to raise $$$$$ for Elijah and Joy and their medical bills.

Thanks again for joining with us to support them both and stand with them through this period, you will be blessed.

Well everyone this is the update you all have been waiting for;

Elijah came out of his coma today and at 3 PM was taken off the respirator. He is alert and talking to Joy and his Mother Pam and already he is making requests for flavored water and some food…….Amen

He is resting well tonight and has been taken off all pain medications and as of now is pain free, he also has no serious side effects from having a breathing tube in his lungs for more than 10 days now.

Elijah is still on the 24 hour dialysis and we are waiting for the Kidneys to kick in and start producing. Keep praying as this is the significant change we need to see next.

Joy is very grateful for all the love and prayers from all of you reading these updates, you can
respond back to the post here and she will be able to see them and respond to you.

Thank you again and continue to pray for Eli and his quick recovery.

Elijah is continuing to show slight improvement daily now and is starting to stabilize his vital signs. His heart rate has decreased significantly today which is a good sign dropping almost 50 beats per minute to bring the HR back to near normal for him.

He continues to breathe on his own with very little support from the respirator, especially during the day time hours and he is tolerating the dialysis daily without any complications.

Joy stated that his temperature had also dropped and the fever was not as significant. This is all very good news and shows marked improvement over the last week, hopefully Eli will continue to heal rapidly and show significant improvement daily now.

We are working on a fund raising strategy for Elijah and Joy to help defray the enormous expenses associated with 24 hour ICU care and any expenses they may incur during follow-up after the hospital stay. We are planning a skate demo at the hospital this month organized by some KKSM friends in Virginia. We also will be putting up a site for them where people may make online donations. If the donation comes into KKSM it will be directed to Joy and Elijah and will qualify for a tax donation.

Praise God everyone, Elijah has taken a turn for the better today…………He is conscious as they have lowered his sedation somewhat to begin to bring him around so he will be aware of his surroundings. He recognized Joy and smiled at her when she talked to him, he was aware of his visitors and made motions to them that he was understanding them. They have reduced the amount of work the respirator is doing to have him begin to breathe on his own with secondary assistance from the respirator.

Joy was very excited today as we talked, Elijah had some friends stop by to visit him including KKSM friends Stephen Baldwin and Jeff Loope from the east side of the U.S.
Also family and friends from Winchester have been with him today.

They have moved Eli into a private room in the ICU unit and one of our friends knows the President of the hospital and he is taking a personal interest in Elijah and his care firsthand.

The medical team has made the decision to have Elijah on dialysis 24 hours a day hoping this will help him restart the kidneys and get them functioning again.

This is good news as he was not making much progress yesterday and now with the reports coming in it is obvious that all the prayers going up for Elijah have been effective.

Keep praying for Joy and Elijah and the progress made today.

I spoke with Joy tonight and received the following update from her, Elijah’s white blood cells have risen significantly and the Doctors seem to be a little concerned regarding that. They are going to use the CT Scan to pinpoint the fluid around the Pancreas and begin to take samples of that fluid to see if it is infected.

The word from the medical team is that Elijah may be in critical care for 30 days or more although they consider his condition to be stable right now. He continues to be in an induced coma with negative kidney activity and must continue the dialysis every other day.

The need right now is for friends and family to surround Joy with prayer and encouragement, pray for her to get peaceful rest at night and that she would be filled with hope for the future.

This is a tough situation for a couple to be in and as newlyweds it makes it more difficult for Joy to be separated from her husband like this. Please continue to pray for them and that Elijah would be home soon with her.
